Mariko Nakamura

After joining NTT, Mariko had been researching on environmental impact assessment of telecommunication services. Later, she got interested in human-centered design in communication while studying risk communication regarding chemical substances, natural disasters, and food products. Currently she is promoting several projects to solve communication issues in collaboration with different companies in various industries by utilizing new technologies developed by NTT R&D.

In charge of the practical project, Project Humanity, which aims to address specific challenges related to individuals through the power of technology, design, art, and more. She places significance on the issue of severe social isolation faced by individuals with profound disabilities, utilizing technology that leverages fundamental human characteristics such as verbal language and physical expression to enhance communication and foster connections with society. She is actively exploring various forms of "communication" on a daily basis with a focus on contributing to a symbiotic world where the real and cyber realms merge, and diversity is embraced in society.
