Aaron Curtis earned a PhD mapping and studying gas and ice composition in the volcanic ice caves on Mt Erebus, the world’s southernmost active volcano. As a NASA Postdoctoral Program fellow in the Extreme Environment Robotics group, he built the world’s first ice climbing robot. Now a JPL employee, Aaron has worked on several JPL missions and mission proposals (Europa Lander, Moon Diver, Psyche) and is currently a Helicopter Integrations Engineer for Ingenuity, the Mobility Lead Rover Planner (driver) for Curiosity and the principal investigator of the MoonDiff citizen science project.
