Jose Fernandez da Ponte

Jose is Senior Vice President and General Manager of Blockchain, Crypto, and Digital Currencies at PayPal, where he drives the company's efforts to increase access to digital currencies and expand their utility for millions of consumers globally. He joined PayPal in June 2019 and assumed his current role in January 2021. Prior to this position, he led PayPal’s Global Business Development team, started the company’s early efforts in crypto and participated in PayPal’s geographic expansion. He has been involved in crypto since 2015, including as EVP of the New Digital Businesses unit of BBVA driving financial applications of decentralized protocols. He is a member of the Global Future Council on Cryptocurrencies at the World Economic Forum and part of the Advisory Board at Blockchain Capital
