Chethan Sathya, MD, MSCE

Chethan Sathya, MD, MSCE, is one of nation’s premiere researchers of gun violence and the recipient of a recent $1.4 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to study gun violence prevention and implement a first-of-its-kind protocol to universally screen among those at risk or firearm injury. A pediatric trauma surgeon, he serves as director of Northwell Health’s Center for Gun Violence Prevention and oversees the health system’s expansive approach to firearm injury prevention. In an effort to change the clinical paradigm and treat gun violence as a public health concern akin to substance abuse or smoking, Dr. Sathya spearheaded the formation of the National Gun Violence Prevention Learning Collaborative for Hospitals and Health Systems.
