Erika La Plante

Dr. Erika La Plante is a co-founder and Head of Measuring, reporting and verification (MRV) & Environmental Impact Assessment at ocean carbon removal company Equatic. Her research at UCLA (where she was a postdoctoral researcher, project scientist, and lecturer) formed the basis of Equatic’s carbon removal technology, building it with MRV at its core. Erika’s work enables the company to offer the most reliable, cost-effective, and scalable ocean carbon removal available to date. Erika is also an Assistant Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of California at Davis. She has a B.S. in Geology from the University of the Philippines and a Ph.D. in Geochemistry from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2016.
